The 2022 Summer School will take place at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven. The main focus of the Alfred Wegener Institute is polar research and the exploration of the sea. Scientists of different disciplines work together multidisciplinary to investigate the climate, biosystems and geosystems in order to better understand the complete system of our planet.

More than 900 employees work at different locations in Bremerhaven. The AWI campus encloses six complexes of buildings, and various other single buildings are distributed over the city.

The nearest airport to Bremerhaven is Bremen (BRE) Airport which is 55km away.

• Arrival by train 

Trains of the Deutschen Bahn and the Elbe Weser railways (EVB) operate at regular intervals from Bremen and Hamburg to Bremerhaven. 

• Arrival by car

You reach Bremerhaven by car via the federal motorway A 27 which leads from Bremen to Bremerhaven. Taking the exit "Bremerhaven Mitte" you can reach the central locations of the Alfred Wegener Institute.
